Do you like comics

I love comics!  I don't even mind political jokes... as long as they are not voted in office.  :O
I actually have a few intermediate comic strips in the "jokes" page to your right on the side bar.

Here are a few I like!

Now its time to DO something...

So you may know about the persecuted church... you may have a real burden... you may already be giving and praying... but do you want to do more?  I do!!!  Sign the petition for the Christians in third-world countries, or just rough areas were beatings, torture, death, and threats are the norm, and maybe not even something they think needs to be reported because it has always been that way for them!  The outbreak of unlawful violence in Vietnam, and the plead of a million strong to the government in Bhutan.  Take action and do something!  That means to pray first, and do what God tells you... so click on the links below!

Evangelical desktop wallpapers

I don't know about you, but when my friends and I get together, or just sitting at home or abroad, people are attracted to electronics, and especially computers.  Whats the home base for the computer?  (No, it isn't google, facebook, or yahoo,) it is your desktop!  What you have posted as your desktop backround, or desktop wallpaper, tells a lot on who you are, or what you like. Take a look at the wallpapers, or backrounds, I have down here, and I guarantee they will attract attention for God!   Enjoy!

Decorate your school folder

I don't know about you, but I usually just get plain ol' cheap notebooks and binders for myself; schooling, projects, sketching, organization, whatever.
But that doesn't mean you don't have to settle for boring!  Take a look at some of the designs I've wrought on the Drama folder and Biology 101 binder.  It may look complicated, but it starts simple... and remember, its not about copying anything, but putting your own style into your work!

My Process:
Biology 101 binder

Outline:

(I did the first picture here in the negative lighting, so you can see some of the details better)

Drama folder:

TIPS:
*Start your design with the basic pencil... don't do too much at once!
*You may need to rotate permanent markers, as they may be a bit dry after using the same one for 10 minutes.
*Look up pictures of designs for ideas.  If you are working on a history folder, look up "history" on Google images, and trust me, there will be a ton of fun and interesting designs!
*Add little parts of yourself in your artwork.  I put a cross necklace on my happy face mask, signifying my redemption through Christ's blood.
*Add sparkly glues around certain outlines to add glam in up a bit.  Just make sure to let it dry!
*Make it your own! Sign your name, draw your "symbol", (my signature symbol is an ichthus.)
*Date your work!  example: Susie Q, 1997. music folder

A whole year of thanks

Hey, Valary-Mac here.  This is an entry in my diary, and though I had no idea I God wanted me to post it, I have no objection.  :)
I love prayer, because it is communing with my Best Friend, my Savior, the Lover of my soul, the Watcher of my heart, the Guider of my path, and the perfect, almighty King of kings - just to name a few.  It is very important to remember that thanksgiving is not a day, but a reminder!  In the old times of Israel, God knew the heart of His people, and he knew perfectly well that they, just like us, are a forgetful people. (Amen?!)  He would have them celebrate "holidays", go through set regulations, and have them build monumental reminders to constantly remind them.  Yet, they turned hundreds of times from Him.  And God returned to them hundreds of times to save them from themselves.  Keep in mind this was before they had direct access to God's Son, Jesus Christ!  HE, and He alone has the power to reconcile us, a sinful, undesirable, perverted people, to the holy, almighty, just and loving God.  That is how we can come to Him to thank Him... we don't have to try and do it on our own anymore. Which, in case you didn't know, is impossible!  And that, my faithful blog-reader, is a reason to Give Thanks!!!

V-M's journal entry 11/26/10

"Yesterday was thanksgiving, and indeed I have reason to be thankful! If I have reason to mourn, I have ten times the reason to rejoice. If I have reason to rebuke, I also have tenfold the right to be silenced. Why must we fondly reminisce the comfortable blessings that we have been given only today, and grumble about the good blessings we resent the rest of the year? As much as I abhor the above practice, I am definitely not above it. May God mercifully purge me of the ungrateful spirit I have acquired, and fill me more deeply with His Spirit, for the Spirit is already in me and working. This is not my first prayer of its kind, and nor will it be my last! This is not a thanksgiving prayer, it is, instead, a prayer of giving thanks on thanksgiving day. Thanks for what? The giving of thanks for the reality of His promise to give His children whatever they ask for in His Name. I can count this prayer as answered, and this request as granted!
Should I be enjoying life this much?  Is the sight of God's beautiful creation alone indulging in earthly pleasures?  God knows my heart, nay, better than I ever shall, and knows that the visible beauty find most coruscating is His own, untainted creation in nature.  Is this wonderful air that I breath and take such delight in taking away from my eternal reward?  No, God gave us these things for our enjoyment... and I burst at its delight.  When do I need more than God? Never!!! But He has given so much of Himself to us, it is utterly unbelievable.  And yet we are a nation called to believe.  Give thanks to HIM."

I heartily invite you to join in the "hour of prayer wheel" that you will see above to your right.  Click to enlarge.

Tim Hawkins - A Homeschool Family

The number one reason new parents decide not to homeschool is because of the "socialization" factor.
If you agree, or don't know how to show your neighbor or family that your homeschooled children, (or siblings,) that the "socialization" spiel isn't important, or is a downright bum argument, don't argue! Show them this link below in the pink.

And now I want to point out a very vital ground-work fact about my little homeschooled self: I have nothing against public-schooled children, nor their parents.  Most of my close friends are Christian, from good Christian homes and families, and most of them are public schooled.  They are the best friends God could have given me!  If one of you special ladies above mentioned happen to read this, it is completely true; let us continue to build each other up in the LORD, and growing in our fervor by the Holy Spirit.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet 16

In approximately 15 minutes, (less,) I will have been 16 years since I started breathing air.  If I was to say I was 16 years old that would be a lie. It would be 16 years and 9 months, minus 15 minutes, that is.

Raw, if not organic

Have any of you ever heard of, or tried to follow the raw foods diet?  Its basically staying away from cooked down, preserved, chemicallized, and sprayed foods.  Like "sugar in the raw" means not that it isn't "cooked", but that nothing has been added or taken away from it.  Raw veggies generally mean that they are uncooked, if not organic.
Raw, if not organic. I like that.  Believe it or not, it creates some controversy and boggled philosophies in our little homestead.

Just after finishing up some cheese curds, the type of little treaty dessert that is typical for our healthy little house.  (Frozen peas? What a treat! have to put a limit on that one in our family!  Although it produces quite the opposite effect of normal desserts.)  But it is a Sunday, and since us ladies braved the chocolate laden treat table during fellowship time in between  service and Sunday school, we feel a bit entitled to a little something.  Something with real sugar, not stevia nor xylitol; something with chocolate, not carob or the like; something... raw, or baked?  The question, dear ladies, is to eat the dough before the oven, or after.  (as if there has to be a choice)  If the cookies are not organic, and the mere thought is no fun, they can at least be raw.

The second cause of unrest in our humble little homestead is this: mega, or mini?  Chocolate chips, that is.  Seriously, who would want the minis??? (Which tells you exactly what side I'm on,)  Sure, they are cute, but who would eat them?  The regular, or even the Big Ones, are the way to go... in the dough; not it the baked; the minis are better for that.   :)
The one agreement universally among us is what kind of cookie... the classic chocolate chip.  Whether raw, if not organic, is your decision. Be sure to leave a comment, fellow stereo-types.

More Beautiful You- Official Music Video

Artist/band: Jonny Diaz  Title: More beautiful you Album: More beautiful you Genre: contemporary, just for girls

You are more beautiful than the you you wouldn't be.

Lyrics:
Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn't straight, her body isn't fake
And she's always felt overweight
Well, little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care, your skin, your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are

There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguises and hoops, they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Little girl twenty one the things that you've already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you've got a man but He's got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead
Well, little girl twenty one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there's a man whose love is true
And He'll treat you like the jewel you are

There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguises and hoops, they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you, more beautiful you

So turn around you're not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It's not too late, you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear, they can all be washed away
By the one who's strong, can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry, all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light, He will show you truth
And again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl

That there could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies, disguises and hoops, they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you
There could never be a more beautiful you

Eyeliner for YOU

My page "beauty and fashion tips" is on pause right now.  Basically, it is in working progress.

I am putting in a whole article for the personal YOU. (yes... you... unless your a boy)
Because all of you have eyes, and they all have color in them.  And most of us girls wear make-up occasionally.
What if I have dark skin and green eyes, what would go?  What if my hair is red, what can I wear for eye make-up?  Blue eyes?  Tan skin?  Black hair?
Yep. I've got it.  So check back soon!!!

(In the meantime, this chart has been very helpful in the past for my make-up choices!)
